Engineer in Residence (“we”, “us”) operates engineerinresidence.net. This policy explains what information we collect when you use the site, why we collect it, and the choices you have. If anything here is unclear, email us at founder@engineerinresidence.net.
Information you give us
We only collect personal information you choose to submit through the site:
- Booking a call: your name, email, phone number, city, company or startup name, and website. We use this to prepare for and schedule the call, and to follow up about our services.
Information collected automatically
We use PostHog, a product analytics service, to understand how visitors use the site. This includes pages viewed, actions taken, approximate location derived from your IP address, browser and device information, and error reports.
On some pages we also record session replays, which reconstruct how a visitor navigates the page. Anything you type into a form is masked and never appears in a replay. Analytics data is processed on PostHog’s US-hosted infrastructure.
Cookies and local storage
We use cookies and browser local storage for analytics (to recognize returning visitors) and for site functionality. We do not use third-party advertising cookies.
How we use your information
- To respond to inquiries and schedule calls you request.
- To provide access to our reports.
- To understand how the site is used and improve it.
- To send occasional follow-ups relevant to what you signed up for. You can opt out at any time.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it with third parties for their own marketing.
Service providers
We rely on a small number of providers to run the site: Supabase for our database and authentication, PostHog for analytics and session replay, and our hosting provider for serving the site. Each processes data only on our behalf and under their own security commitments.
Data retention
We keep the information you submit for as long as we need it for the purposes above: lead records while the conversation or engagement is active, and analytics data per PostHog’s standard retention. If you want something deleted sooner, just ask.
Your rights
You can request a copy of the personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. Email founder@engineerinresidence.net and we will respond promptly. Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights under laws such as the GDPR or CCPA, and we honor those requests regardless of location.
Security
We take reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your information, including encrypted connections (HTTPS) and access controls on our systems. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, but we work to keep risk low.
Children
Our site and services are for businesses and professionals. They are not directed at children under 16, and we do not knowingly collect information from them.
Changes to this policy
If we make material changes, we will update the effective date at the top of this page. Continued use of the site after a change means the updated policy applies.
